I have been to Cape Town many times, it never ceases to amaze me. It is so cosmopolitan, and a city of contrasts. It has breathtaking beauty in abundance.
|
A city of shopping malls, suburbs and townships and the most glorious sunsets from the top of table Mountain. Cape Town has rushed forward in its modernisation and development, The Table Mountain is a useful reference point, and the famous table-cloth can be a useful indicator of the weather. Cape Town really has something for everyone.

Favourite spots: |
Kirstenhof Gardens, The Cape of Good Hope, Tableview, Green Street Market, Hout Bay.
|
|
What's really great: |
The Cable Car, the feng-boss flora and fauna, the shopping of course!
|
|
Sights: |
The views of Table Mountain from the beaches around Tableview are a delightful constant, the odd visiting whale an added bonus.
The penguins at Boulders beach are cute, and the pelicans in various creeks do live up to their label about their beaks holding as much as their belly can!
Some more glorious doors in the City proper.

Other recommendations: |
The pan-african market somewhere near Green Street, I think is amazing. How do they make a living when there is soooo much on offer.? Back to contrasts the Victoria and Alber t dock complex is very tastefully done.
The journey in from the airport is interesting!

To answer your question: no. I agree Cape Town is a fantastic place, I've been there twice, but it's not real Africa. |
