2003 I moved to Duisburg and wasn't really effected. I thought this city stinks and is mostly ugly.... nowadays I know the truth. I felt in love with the people, the locatiions and its surroundings

Duisburg lies in the middle of the so called Ruhrpott and is signed by the steal industry. Close to Düsseldorf with its snobby lifestyle, Duisburg leaves you in a calm natural feeling. though there are really ugly places you also get surprises all along. every time when I go running in the Stadtwald I am astonished how much nature there is in Duisburg. With it's industrial architecture Duisburg has a lot to offer for photographs. The Ruhr an Rheinn give al lot to entertain and just to chill.

Favourite spots: |
My favourite place in Duisburg is the Innenhafen (close to Downtown Duisburg) and the Landschaftspark Nord with its freetime offers. if you like to enjoy a nice cup of coffee or have a nice meal you should try one of the many locations in the Innehafen. To see how the steal industry worked and still works you should visit the Landschaftspark. In the night-time the management offers guited tours!

What's really great: |
One of the things I like most of Duisburg are the people. They are honest, direct and funny.... but everything in their Duisburger own way!

Julia,
Interesting to read that there is such a big difference between Duisburg and Duesseldorf. Have you got some more photos? |

A small introduction to Duisburg. There must much be much more there and nearby? What do the people do in their leisure time? [NB: my own reports are also very short :- (] |
