spent a fantastic week in the wine growing regions close to the french border on the wine strasse that links the 2. A very quiet and peaceful town surrounded by vinyards. Heidelberg is close by and easily accessable, for a tour around the old city, castle and museums.

Favourite spots: |
Heidelberg, the city as a whole has a magical almost fairytale feel about it, especially good if you watch the sunset over the castle and sip locally produced wine that isn't available on export.

What's really great: |
i was staying with my friend and her family. Her mother doesn't speak any english and my german isn't too good either. Spent a day with the mum as my mate was in work, couldn't work out what she was trying to say to me and managed to comunicate to her that wherever she was going i would come too. turned out she wanted to wander through the vinyards, plying me with fags and stealing as many grapes as we could fit in our mouths! It was a fantastic day, i haven't laughed so much in ages It just goes to show that language is only a barrier when you allow it to be.

|
Sights: |
All of heidelberg city!
|
|
Accommodations: |
There are lots of local, small pensions around the wine area. THey are mostly good value for money and family owned businesses. Many will have vinyards also, so the potential for wine testing is enormous!
