In the only country still split up, I spent my three best summer vacations ever. It was also there where I made my first steps speaking English, as an 11-year-old kid.

My first impression of Cyprus was: Wooowww, 'tis hot here! We landed on Larnaka Airport on a hot afternoon in July 1995, I was 11 years old and it was the first time we took the plane to a summer vacation destination. The bus drove us to a small village called Protaras, where we went to a small family hotel. It was half an hour away from the beach and we spent most of our time in the hotel pool, but it was great. It was there where my interest for Ancient Greek culture started and I learned many things about Greek gods and godesses. My second vacation in Cyprus was in Protaras again, in July 1997, exactly two years after the first trip. We went to another hotel, right at the beach, and I could finally enjoy the sea (and its salt! lol). The third and last time was in July 1999.
