This city was very relevant in moorish times in Spain, then in the middle ages and nowadays it is an important modern city too in southern Spain. Andalusian and Castillian, it is the mixture of Murcia.

Located in southern Spain, Murcia is a big and a cosmopolitan city. More than 500.000 people live here so it is one of the most important cities in Spain. A warm climate, sunny days, nice people and very famous gastronomy are what we can find in this capital. Moorish, medieval, baroque and modern city. Salzillo sculptor made for Murcia some of the most beautiful christian sculptures, Rincón de Pepe gave international gastronomy reputation and the sun do the rest. 'Murcianos' are opened to visitors and the city will transport you to the future and suddenly to past times while you are walking.

Favourite spots:
Murcia's cathedral at night

Murcia's cathedral is one of the most important and beautiful monuments in Europe. With a baroque front, this christian temple firstly was a mosque. Then became gothic and christian and finally baroque, but magically it keeps treasures from all styles. Vélez chapel or the impressive clock tower are other things that make this cathedral unique. A river with really beautiful bridges, bucolic parks and the hustle of a capital are together here. Nice churchs, full of flowers squares, skyscrapers and international shooping centers are expecting our visit. When you discover it, you will understand why 'Murcianos' are proud for living here.

What's really great:
Casino's ballroom

You have to forget your watch and enjoy the wonderful places of the city. Specially nice are: El Casino, one of the nicest buildings of the city, El Jardín de Floridablanca, with centenary trees and El Malecón, here is obtained a nice sight of the historical center. Juan Carlos I and Juan de Borbón avenues are full of new modern buildings and enormous shooping centers. Calle Trapería and Platería are full of antique shops and famous bars, where you can 'tapear', Murcia has a rich gastronomy.

Sights:

Fuensanta monastery is a marvellous location to see a good panoramic view of Murcia and the valley. Sunrise here is exceptional. Full of trees, these mountains are well known for Murcia's inhabbitants, you can enjoy practising sports while you are seeing the nice monastery and also if you like walking you can go to see natural monuments and centenary forests. Here you can relax hearing birds and the wind from the valley.

Accommodations:
Murcia is full of hotels. Arco de San Juan, Silken 7 Coronas, NH Amistad... there are a lot of good and luxury hotels in the city. All of them with very good services. Also you can sleep and relax in cheap hotels in the center.

Nightlife:

Night returns Murcia to a party, you have to live it at night. Zig Zag building is full of discos and pubs, Atalayas neighbourghood, Mariano Rojas street are also famous places to go out at night. The center is full of students in terraces, bars or pubs.

Young people invade Murcia when it is 12:00 AM, prepare yourself for an unforgettable night in this city. Then, when the morning comes, you can go to eat 'churros' with chocolate at Malecón park.

Restaurants:

Impossible not to eat in one of Murcia's regional restaurants. Rincón de Pepe, El Churra, Palacio de La Seda, Arco de San Juan... are extraordinary examples of good food. But you can find international restaurants too, or dozens of bars where you can eat 'tapas'. Undoubtedly Murcia is one of the most important gastronomic places of Spain.
