French Quarter - Party Place

  11 votes
Page: 1 2 3
Nicknamed The Big Easy and the birthplace of Jazz, New Orleans is truely a permanent party place and certainly the world's number one pub-crawlers attraction.

Louisiana was once a French Colony, claimed in 1699 and purchased (like Alaska) by the States in 1803. The french culture remains, some still speak french and the language dominates the city through the names of streets and locations. Architecture, art and entertainment well preserved, makes a unique experience for travellers. New Orleans main attraction is the Mardi Grass in February, perhaps after Rio, the most spectacular of carnivals. Bourbon Street is the main location of well decorated and cheerfull pubs.

Favourite spots:
Royal Street
Royal Street
Royal Street - lined with a lot of art and antique shops. One can brouse through seemlingly endless chains of rooms filled with interesting and unusual artifacts, from expensive furniture to small souveniers. Pretty spooky in some places, thinking of the rumours of ghosts and voodoo!

What's really great:

Pub crawl - one as good as the other, our favorite offering hundreds of brews from all around the world. The bars and restaurants have no limited closing time, so the night can become very long. One can walk the area easily but for those needing guidance, an old tour bus does the rounds!
