Wherever I go, Norfolk is still my second home sweet home. It's been almost three years since the day I first arrived at Norfolk Int'l Airport. I've never thought I would fall in love with the city as deep as I do for my home town, Saigon.
This is obviously not any typical travel log since I'm not tralleving to Norfolk or the U.S. anymore just because I've been living here for the last few years. I'd rather say that it was my first journey ever in history. My very first 27-hour trip abroad was long yet a life-long experience.

Favourite spots: |
I'd say downtown Norfolk and VA Beach. I love the Oceanfronts area and the boardwalk right next to the beach. There's just so many things to do in that area during summer. Live music on the street, different crowd of people everywhere, the smell of fresh seafood, the summer wind. You can't help but fall in love with it.

What's really great: |
The people and environment. It's not a big and busy, so it's definitely a plus for relaxing and enjoying life. That's why there're a lot of retired people that prefer to live there, I guess.

Sights: |
Definitely VA Beach and downtown Norfolk where the Wisconsin naval ship museum and General McArthur museum are. The McArthur shopping mall is also a cool place to shop 'till you drop.
Accommodations: |
Sightseeing. Museums. Naval ship in downtown Norfolk.
VA Beach is famous for tourists in the summer.
Nightlife: |
I haven't been to many clubs yet but I kinda like Guadelajara in downtown Norfolk. In general, there are a lot of clubs that you can go in both Norfolk and VA Beach. Like it or not depends on your taste of course.

Hangouts: |
I'm not sure about pubs. I know there's one Irish pub in downtown Norfolk. I haven't been there but my friend told me that it was pretty Irish :-).
Restaurants: |
I love dining out. There are quite a nice selection for different kinds of food. Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino, Indian, Italian, Carribean. You name it !
Other recommendations: |
Downtown Norfolk is also a favourite place for cruise ships. I've been on a cruise two times myself.

This is interesting but it makes me want to know the place, rather than giving me a clear picture. If you can't use photos, you could paint a verbal picture. |
