Salzburg is a city with an intensive cultural tradition that extends far into the past. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the city’s most famous son, represents the high point of the classical musical tradition. This tradition is still fostered nowadays - on the one hand in the Mozarteum University and on the other in the equally world-renowned Salzburg Festival, which, since it was founded in 1920, annually attracts thousands of art and culture lovers from all over the world to Salzburg. Music especially but also major theatrical events form the basis for the world reputation of the Festival. One of the most important annual attractions is of course the performance on the Cathedral Square of the mystery play “Jedermann” (Everyman) against the overwhelming background of Salzburg Cathedral.

After getting my Austrian driving licences I decided to take a long drive from Vienna to Salzburg.People normally take 3 hours to reach there but I took about 5 hours.Well do not say anything wrong about woman driving ;)I need little bit courage to make it fast. Anyway it was the festival season and I could not find any place to sleep there,so I kept on wandering here and there till I reached a lonely place.I found the hotel there. No one was on reception.I waited 30 minutes and then decided to call the Hotel reception from my cell phone.Ok,lets do it.What its 0049....and not 0043humm what's this.Seems everything is wrong here.Anyway I dialled the number ,the nice lady came from the back door and welcome me to the Germany. So instead of Salzburg I was in Germany. After staying there for a night I went back to Salzburg. Its beautiful city, mix of modernity and tradition. The film festival made it all the more beautiful. The colours all around, old couples to see Jederman in the Dom. After wandering through the streets of Salzburg I reached 11th Century Fortress . I am attaching here some of the photographs taken from the top of fortress roof. check them out.
