I lived in Vancouver for a year in 1980. It is beautiful, temperate, but smoggy. People are easy and up-beat. The climate lends itself well to lush foliage, at least compared to the rest of Canada. There is nothing like a mountain view, and Grouse Mountain can be seem from almost anywhere in Vancouver, particularly in the evening just when the clouds cleared and the sun came out just in time to set.

Favourite spots: |
Queen Elizabeth Park is great for a hike, and not so crowded and exhaust-filled as Stanley Park. Kitsilano area was colourful and exciting.

Try the trendy restaurants along Fourth Avenue. My favourite was an Indian Curry spot.
