Jill,
Have you had a chance to hike the Zion Narrows? If not, try to make time to do that in September. They are a real treat. The hike is in the stream bed for the most part but the walls rise on either side and are stunning. We used a pair of hiking sticks and Keen H2O sandals and did just fine. You can start at the top and hike down but the permits are controlled (you enter on someone's private property) so you need to reserve in advance. Even just starting at the bottom and going for a couple of miles and turning around still makes for a nice day hike!

We did a the Grand Parks Tour (Both sides of the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Arches, Canyonlands, Capital Reed, Bryce, Zion) last August - your pictures bring back so many wonderful memories. You've done a great job capturing the feel!

.... I have explored the Colmar and Mullhouse area but was not impressed at all, the area is like the ex East German towns. I am though planning a trip to Strasbourg and perhaps that should be a stop on my first visit to Paris and TGV experience? I am afraid to speak French properly but will survive that like others do! :-) RRG
Unfortunately, my visa still has not arrived, so I have not gone to The Sudan yet. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to see the pyramids. Well, I shall be patient, and perhaps I will re-apply for the visa in a different country - the embassy in Germany broadcasted that it took two weeks for the visa (while in London it has been taking three months, so far). I have also come across people who might have connection through the UN and might be able to help me get a visa through diplomatic routes.
I posted a travel log on GLOBO expressing my disappointment with the visa process...
I will keep everyone posted on the developments, for sure.
Now, I am fixing myself for a trip to Andalusia and Iran.
