Isn't the name of this bridge Oberbaumbrücke...(?)

basia - Jul, 31 2010 05:07pm
Petra you are right, it is Oberbaumbrücke.

Basia, what do the emblems on top of the towers portray?

siffer - Jul, 31 2010 10:07pm
very nice picture indeed and a bridge we did not see. the towers are striking. i think the emblem on the left is the prussian lion worn by WWI artillery officers and also on certain medals awarded. on the right, looks like the imperial prussian eagle also leading up to WWI. Of course, after the war, not so frequently displayed.

@Tony: Nico, I am sorry, I have to correct: on the left you can see the Berlin bear (heraldic animal) and on the right it's the Brandenburg eagle. Brandenburg now is the federal state around Berlin. Not all emblems in Germany lead up to wars. ;-)

Thank you Petra, for the info to my photo. I was looking on the internet but not found an answer to what the symbols mean on the towers of the bridge. I knew I could count on your help :)
