information about thailand  AyutthayaThailand, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya
This Buddha, still intact, holds court in the ruins of a temple over the other headless forms. Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam for during the 15th and 16th centuries but was ultimately sacked by the Burmese. The Burmese, looking for gold that was commonly placed in the top knots of Siamese Buddhas, erected fires over the figures to cause the cement or stucco to split.
