After 6 hours of hiking, the first thing to greet us as we reach the Back Packer's Campground is this rattle snake. I have seen lots of them over the years but this one was probably the largest one I have ever seen in the wild.

Are those snakes danger for the people ?

eirekay - Aug, 22 2008 10:08am
Quite! They are poisonous. We hike with a snake bite kit. I have stayed in this campground 6 or 7 times and have seen one on every trip.

You are not allowed to kill them either - while we were there some back packers had one in their campsite and killed it - they were fined $250 each by the Rangers.

Nice one! I think it actually is looking at me!
