As for your potm thing I must say that this is indipendent of any fraud since not machines pick that picture but a human beeing. I agree with you that there is no use in creating ghost accounts and let friends vote high. At GLOBO everybody who wants to be active has to register and during voting he leaves a digital track. So if any member tries to get high ratings with a unrespectfull help, it will eventually come out and his reputation is damaged forever. It takes months, somethimes years to create great member travel sites and make good friends with the members including guest book postings etc which no serious member would want to put at stake. About improving the way pictures can be rated and fraud prevented: There is no such thing like 100% security on things like this. Have a look at google for example. They alter their algorithms with the help of hundres of programmers to prevent spam and people who trick their system. Eventually that will be broken again in a few weeks and then the circle starts all over again. If we start to alter the algorithm for ranking we will only make it more complicated in the end and will not achive an improvement overall. The best way to keep fraud away is not to award such pictures. The more members take part at globo the better the systsem will get. It is easy to trick 10 votes, but try this with a 1000 votes! My suggestion: Keep cool and send some hints to me if you guess a fraud attempt. I will then have a deeper look on who votet for that pictures and how often he voted for which member etc. That said, it should be cristal clear that such a member will be detected in the long run and loose all his reputation on GLOBO, perhaps even his whole account. I do really hope that we can close this topic fast and get past such a discussion about GLOBO members who try to trick others. That is not why I have created GLOBOsapiens.
