What is the story behind this? Please tell me!

Terje, I think it was once called St. Paul's Railway Bridge that wasn't either strong enough to take the new train or there wasn't enough space at the old station so it was decommissioned and Blackfriars was built. Instead of completely destroying it when the bridge was opened they left the columns as a monument I believe to the architect - Christopher Wren.
