Hi Kerrie
Thanks for checking my re-edited report! My first visit to the area was only for a week and i did quite a lot of sightseeing. I guess it depends how far you want to travel. I hope to go to Mae Hong Son this summer as i missed it on both trips. There are many trekking trips lasting from 3 + days which will take you to outlying villages, which can be very enjoyable.
Driving - scary! The drivers don't seem to have too many rules of the road.

Have a great trip.

Sengigi?

Hi Kerrie,
I love your Lombok pictures. The one titles: Beach on Lombok is Sengigi beach, if I am not mistaken.
Lovely place to be

Hi Kerrie
Thanks for your comments on my Stockholm page. On the mater of islands, we crossed by day with Viking Line from S to Turku [Åbu] - 11 hours with over 8 among islands - absurdly cheap for us oldies!
Cheers, David

Cusco and the Sacred Valley

Hey Kerry

I know your Peru reports are old, but I just read the on on Cusco and it was really informative. I was there last year and this brought back lots of good memories. I also like the accompanying pictures. It is such a fascinating area.

Regards
Misty

Bali & Gili

Hi Kerrie,

Enjoyed your lovely pictures of Bali and Gili. Bali brings back many memories. I am particularly enthralled by the one of "Mt Kintamani" - is this actually Mt Batur taken from Kintamani?

My favourite Balinese mountain is Gunung Agung which I have only ever seen fully once - as it is usually shrouded in cloud and mist.

Hope that life in Surfers is becoming more sensible now that the "schoolies" have been and gone!

Keep up the great contribs!

Best wishes,

Cheers, Brit

Bonjour Kerrie,
I just took a look at your awesome pictures of Indonesia.. I especially loved the one from the
dormant volcano of Mt Kintamani. I loved the way the clouds swirled around the summit. Quite interesting isnt' it?:-)
Great new pic by way.:-)
Talk to you soon

Safari

Posted: 2004-11-23 12:19 PM
Hi Kerrie,

just remembered that you asked me a question about self-driving in Safari Parks in South Africa.
I believe, but I might be wrong here, that in some of the private reserves you can't go in your own car but have to book an excursion with a guide. We went to two National Parks, Kruger and Marakele, where you could go in your own car. And I remember reading in one of my guides that it is quite difficult going on a guided tour in KNP if you are not staying in one of the camps within the park. The only problem is that you have to stick to the opening times of the park. In our case we got in at 6am and had to leave again at 6pm, so you tend to miss the times when the animals are at their most active.
The main roads are all tarred and well maintained and the seconary roads are dirt roads but no problem for a normal car, it doesn't have to be a 4x4. The camps have petrol stations, too.

Hope this helps

Hi Kerrie,

thank you for signing my guestbook.

Yes, you should make an effort to get to Rye, it really is a picture perfect little town. I tend to take all my relatives and friends there when they come visiting. There are a lot of antiquarian bookshops in Rye, but I tend to give them a miss when I'm not alone, otherwise you wouldn't see me for the rest of the day! I am a bookshop manager myself and love rummaging around in second hand bookshops.

best

Sabine
