Cape Tribulation travelogue picture
The Daintree National Park is a very diverse region in the tropical far north of Queensland. You can find here great beaches and rainforest and it’s also maybe the only place in the world where the rainforest runs until the beach.

Cape Tribulation will ring a bell for many visitors to Oz or Cape Trib like the people say who have been there. James Cook named the Cape in the late 1700. It's about 150 km north of Cairns and in order to get there you need to cross the Daintree River by ferry.

Favourite spots:

Well cape Trib is a nice sandy beach ideal for playing a game of ultimate Frisbee or just hangout and relax in the sun.

And then you can go on a 4x4 guided drive across the rainforest and see some amazing places. Why not have a swim in a creek, just be careful of the snakes that you disturb in their siesta. We had a nice swim in a small riverbed and our guide came back with a snake to show us that they are living in that area.

Or go to Mossman Gorge and walk or jump over that suspension-bridge. There are great hiking possibilities in the Daintree National Park.

And why not go to the local ice-cream factory and taste the ice-cream made with only local ingredient, yummy. And if you love to see plants and trees, there are boardwalks that bring you into the area's that will amaze you.

What's really great:

We had a great time in Cape Trib in the Daintree National Park and I’m sure that you are going to like it too, with so many things to do and to see, there is something for everybody. But the thing I liked most was that guided 4x4 drive into the rainforest.

Sights:

There are many boardwalks in the Daintree National Park. These boardwalks take you into the rainforest and it brings you much closer to the trees and plants and there is everywhere information so that you can read about what you see. It gave me a good feeling of the diverse plant life in the area.

Accommodations:

Ferntree Rainforest Resort, This is a nice place to spend the night, it's quiet and relaxed. We had a bungalow with two rooms, one for the girls and one for the guys. And we had our porch were we had long talks and shared a lot of beers together.

These resorts are build in such a way that they have a minimum impact on the environment, and we had our private mosquito catchers, we had at least one or two gecko's in our room to take care of that.

Hangouts:

There is a place where a lot of backpackers hang out to have a drink or to have a great parties and that is PK's Jungle Village.

Other recommendations:

I know now why many people are visiting Mossman Gorge, it seems to be one of the most visited spots in the Wet Tropics.

Mossman Gorge is located in the Daintree National park, and is the traditional home of the Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people. The Mossman River runs here between huge granite boulders and they create here and there some nice clear freshwater swimming pools.

There are nice areas to swim, and it's a relaxing walk or you can walk over a suspension bridge that runs over the river.

There is a also 2.4 km self-guided walk.
