Hired push bikes and rode all over the place - Hoi An is flat and beautiful and old. The markets are mad (as Vietnamese markets usually are) and they sell everything. The Quiet American was filmed there (and the sets were being built while I was there).

The whole city - it is beautiful. The food is excellent, the beach was lovely and it just has a good feel about it.

I loved the whole place. Was really good to get clothes made that fit me exactly - the tailors are amazing and I got 5 things made for US$50!

|
The city is beautiful - lots of quaint little places (part of the centre of the city is World Heritage listed). There are lots of litle shops and narrow cobbles alleys. The Japanese Bridge was built by the Japanese and is very quaint - see picture.

| Accommodations: |
|
The place was almost completely booked out when I was there - Hollywood had come to town for the filming of the Quiet American. There is a range of accomodation from very basic right through to very amazing. Stayed in a hotel on the way out of town towards the beach which was nice and quiet away from the bustle of the city.

| Restaurants: |
There were a million excellent places to eat. One of the loca specialities is called White Rose - unfried wonton-like things and some little parcels of carrot, mushroom and bean sprouts. It is not very exciting - quite tasteless, but fresh and healthy. Lassi's everywhere and beautiful - especially the pineapple ones. They are crushed ice, milk and fruit - like a smoothie, but better.

The beach is about 8km from town and was quite deserted. There are beach resorts, places to park your bike (for a small fee) and plenty of people to sell you things while you soak up the sun.
