Hood River is the name, Windsurfing is the game!

The city has 6.362 inhabitants plus some 1,000 tourists visiting for sports (windsurfing mainly). Hood River is situated directly at the Columbia River which belongs to the Cascade Range here.

The next biggest city is The Dalles further east (40 miles). The main event is windsurfing because of strong winds year round. A toll brigde gives an access to Washington state. Favourite spots:
- Nice landscape setting (Glacier, Valley, Columbia)

- The city is set on a steep slope

- Grown city, not too modern

- Different sports are possible (Windsurfing, sailing, MTB, skiing)

What's really great:
Nice weather (but with quite strong winds near the Columbia)

Accommodations:
Columbia Gorge Hotel ist very fancy and set above a cliff of the Columbia

Other recommendations:
Go and get yourself a Yamaha WaveRunner (rental company directly under the toll bridge).

Go and sit at a cozy restaurant in Downtown.

Go and check trails at Mount Hood (where you can go skiing year round).

Spend a night at the Columbia Gorge Hotel (I-84 E).

Matthias, Columbia Gorge is one of my favorite places on earth! I have hiked Multnomah Falls 6 times. It would be great to see some pictures in this report and more on the natural beauty of this area!
