In the middle of the Andaman Sea lays Ko Lanta, part of the Krabi Province. If you are searching for an escape of the crowds on the other islands like Ko Phi Phi you should consider visiting Ko Lanta. There is nothing really special here, but it is really quiet and unbelivable cheap!

There is not much to do and see on this island. You can go snorcling, but the main atraction for me was the silence. The north-western side of the island south of Ban Sla Dan is supposed to have the most prettiest beaches on Ko Lanta.

| What's really great: |

When I came over from Ko Phi Phi ( a two hours ride on a ferry) I met some guys from Sweden and I shared a bungalow with one of them. The place we came was actually empty, so we have been about 8 people there. This made it real special! In the evenings the Bungalow owner opened a bar at the beach and we had one of the best parties I ever had in Thailand. The people seem to be even more friendly here than on the other east islands of Thailand.

On the ferry to Ko Lanta you will definatelly find a great and cheap place. There are people from the bungalow owners (often family run) on the boat and show you pictures of their places. This is really a good thing. Prices drop and they do give you a free ride to their place. During the 2 days I had on Ko Lanta I spend almost no money at all. A big relieve for my budget after the rip of on Ko Phi Phi :-)
Get yourself one of those beautiful beach hats. They are pretty basic and made out of banboo. Just make sure they do have a mosquite net. You will definatelly need it in Thailand. On my trip I met lots of people renting out those aircon villa things, but ...hey you are in Thailand! Feel the nature!
This beach hat was about 100 Bath a day - 3 Euro!
