Hot spot for the adventurer

I was fortunate to make a trip to this area in 2002 and it is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. My trip was out of need of some sanity and to find a different place to ride. My familly had been going through some really tough growing pains.

Flying from a little town in the middle of the Colorado Rockies where white bread and cattle ranches abound I was in need of a break. After surfing around on the web I ran across a guy who had a waterski boat and a lake to ride near La Fortuna, CR. La Fortuna is a jumping off spot for a lot of travelers. Many great canopy tours abound. La Fortuna Waterfall and its waters were the coldest waters I was in at 70 degrees farenheit. Tabacon Resort is a must for those who like the hot springs. Although the price of admission is steep it is well worth the $$. I stayed at Tilajari Resort for ten days and wakeboarded at Aquaski.com. What a blast!!! From Ramons private ski lake in an orange orchard you can see Arenal Volcano erupting from the deck. The water temp was in the low 80's . The people are friendly but be careful of the ex-patriots trying to sell you land. Have fun and leave your worries behind.

Favourite spots:
Tilajari Resort Raftng the Rio Toro Aquaski.com (on the web) Tabacon REsort La Fortuna Waterfalls

What's really great:
Warm weather, beautiful healthy people (locals and tourists), Great food, The surrounding countryside is unmatched in beauty. I was impressed with how many locals were excited to use their english skills and not put me down because I didn't speak spanish. They are willing to help you learn spanish as much as they want to learn english.

Accommodations:
Arenal Lodge
Tabacon Resort
Tilajari Resort

Restaurants:
We found an awesome Itallian restaurant in the middle of the jungle near La Fortuna. I cannot remember the name but you will know it when you eat there.

Carl, I am envious, as this is one of the trips that I would like to take in the near future. This is a nice start for writing reports. It would have helped if you would have added more detail and would have uploaded some photos. I would love to get as many photos of Volcan Arenal as I can get. Keep writing.
