Lijiang, well, the old Lijiang, is a little beauty at the border mountains with the Tibet plate. Laberintic streets in a chaotic town growing during centuries with a beautiful disorder. The little water chanels, the nice streets, all the chinese country side town feeling .... Is really a magical city to enjoy.
Favourite spots:
The Naxi music theatres are a great show, the fabulous Hailong Tan gardens and temples, the Mao Ze Dong statue, the magical walks all around the old town of Lijiang, the Jade dragon mountain or go further to the Tiger leaping gorgue!!!
What's really great:
Well, i was sick there so i want to say thanks to the hospital doctors first. Anyway Lijiang is a pleasant city to stay for a long time, thatīs the real Yunnan, the mistery of the rural China.
Accommodations:
Everybody could recommend you the Naxi Binguan, the Dongba house or the Youth Hostel, etc...
But really there are a lot of guesthouses really really cheap, from 10 to 20 Yuen per night!!!
I was at the Yua Lin Guesthouse and was great.
REMEMBER: Ever inside the old town!!!!
Nightlife:
There are no clubs inside the old town, maybe you can find something out, at the new town just behind the other.
But i think that there you will never find something really interesting.
Restaurants:
Usually the Pubs and the Restaurants are the locals.
There are a lot all around the old town: Vegetarian, korean, Naxi traditional cuisine, all great ones and cheap.
Please try the Yak steak and the Naxi sandwich.
Other recommendations:
Be careful because to go to the Jade dragon mountain, the springs, etc ... you have to take a bus that stops at one place where you have to pay an absurd high amount of money just to cross.
At the Tiger Leaping Gorge go by the highest of the 2 possible ways, thatīs the best one. You can find maps at every restaurant-pub of the old town just ask for it because are free!!!
