I have never seen something like that anywhere. All the Salzburg city is just dedicated to the Mozart tourism!!! Anyway is a beautiful city, really clean, with wonderful parks specially on the two mountains and a castle at the top. Nice to stay for some relaxing days. but... do you like opera or classical music concerts?? If not donīt go there.
Favourite spots:
The top castle (I canīt remmember the name, sorry!!), the big chess table, the Markplatz, the cathedral, the Mozartīs house, the opera and concerts places, ... is a really artistic city!!
What's really great:
Is a big artistic and cultural city, that,s what i like. The Puppets shows at Markplatz or the free concerts of classical music at some places, the street artists ... thatīs nice.
Sights:
to see all the city the best is rent a bike and just go quitely and relaxed. Are not so expensive and really easy to find, some hostels rent bikes for a day.
(Donīt try to go to the castle with it!!)
Accommodations:
The cheapest option is stay at one of the lot of campings that you can find out the city.
Anyway inside the city you can find some not-so-expensive hostels or one youth hostel with dorms.
Other recommendations:
All right!! I like Mozart some times but this city is mad about this man!!!
Shops, souvenirs, candies, chocolates, t-shirts!!! Maybe twoo much!!
There's also all that "Sound of Music" stuff, but yeah Mozart rules this city. I thought it was fascinating frankly. I also liked the medieval torture chambers at the castle. Nice report!
