The whole of Portugal is a photographers paradise, colour and tradition and friendly people attracted us to visit Lisbon and some of its neighbouring sights. The best of which was this little city on the coast.
Nazare Beachfront
About a 100km north of Lisboa/Lisbon, Nazare is an attraction to travellers and city escapers too, small, picturesque and quiet. They say quiet only off-season or during the week as it has become a popular place. Mid-september is fiesta time with processions, winefest, bullfighting and folk dancing.
Favourite spots:
Nazare Beach
The Beach, extreamly clean, local women and children comb the beach sand, apparently also by siving the sand.
What's really great:
Amazing is Nazare's long beach which ends at cliffs 100m high over the lower city, the upper part on the cliffs, Sitio where most live, is connected by windey road or practicle cablelift. Nossa Senhora da Nazare Church respects a man that was saved from falling from the cliffs in the mist by a vision.
San Miguel at the end of the beach, many other in town, for its view of the ocean and super lunch menu. There are many others naturally.
Portugal is a gastronomical dream come true! Seafood is the best. The portugese have their own special and delicious way of preparing fish, prawns and lobsters. Grilled sardines are a favorite of mine, with fresh bread and a local table wine, a superb feast.
