It is basically a quiet city. If you are travelling in Canada I would recommend to spend at least a couple of days in Ottawa. To see the Parliament building any time of the year or to iceskate along the river in winter.
The only place to go at night is the market. For budget accommodation I would suggest the Youth Hostel near Ottawa U Campus. It is an old jail with an extraordinary atmosphere.
Favourite spots:
The market. The Bytown moovie theater, for independent films. The Ethiopean Restaurant opposite Bytown cinema.
What's really great:
The parliament building, the river, walking along the marketplace on weekends or anytime in the sumer. Second cup. Some cute cafes scattered in the market. The old jail converted in a Youth Hostel.
Accommodations:
Youth Hostel next to Ottawa U Campus which is an old jail.
Hi Lidia,
This is good information, but a bit short. Maybe you could add additional information so that your report helps future travellers to Ottawa . Some pictures would be nice too. Travel writing is really difficult, I experienced that myself when I started writing. Maybe it is a good thing to keep in mind: what information is needed to make a visit to ottawa easier for people who have never been there before.
I hope you will become a regular contributor to GLOBO and hope to read more travel accounts.
