I finally made my way to Brazil after 2-3 years. A friend from the past and I set off on a jouney for beer, beach, and bunda. Fortunatley in Rio all three are available in abundance!

After trying to persuade all friends and aquintaces to join me on a trip to Rio, I found my buddy Javi and we were off. I had not seen Javs for 5-6 years but it turns out we shared an interest in all things Brasil. Two good friends getting reaquinted and sharing an adventure in Rio.

| Favourite spots: |

Posto 9 Ipanema Beach, sipping a Skol muito gelada, eating a quejio na brasa with just the right amout of oregano. I can smell it now.

| What's really great: |

Was it the natural beauty that surrounds Rio's coastline, or the equally beautiful people. Rio is known for it senual, sexy Cariocas, but who knew that their true beauty comes from within.

| Sights: |
|
Banda de Ipanema. It goes down two Saturdays before Carnival. It is a Bloco, sort of a pre-carnival party. I lost my buddy Javi and had to venture out alone, but I'm glad I did. Javi had gotten tied up with a girl he knows down in Rio so I was flying solo. There is plenty food, beer and dancing. I danced while following the drums of a huge band. I was caught up and swapped spit with a few of the female partiers. All in all. I had the time of my life. There were a few small Blocos that seemed to just spring up. I recomend going to Rio in the weeks preceding Carnival. There is plenty to do without the overwhelming crowds.

I rented an apartment from Copacabana Holiday. Two bedrooms on the boarder of Copa and Leme $80 per night. The apartment was OK, it would have liked it to be closer to Ipanema. The people at CopaHoliday were very nice but the apartment was small, out of the way, and had a ant problem. They also provided service from GIG for $30.

I went to one club on Av Nossa Sen., I dont remeber the name but I had a great time. I was close to Leme. Sorry I cant provide more info.

I made my way to Marius in Leme. It was my first expierence in a sit down restuarant in Brazil, what a site. Platter after platter of lucious meats one after the other. Beef cooked to perfection, followed by suculant lamb, topped by mouthwatering sausages. That is not to mention the help you self buffet. Oysters, shrimp, sushi, meats, cheeses, all fresh and ready to eat. I am not exagerating when I say I have never seen anything like it. It is a must see on a day you very hungry and want to treat yourself or someone else right.

I did go to one Pub in Leme on Av Atlantico. It was terrific, I watched NFL playoff games and ate a burger. (It felt like home)
