This is an ongoing, rambling project that should be finished the day after I die. Until then, feel free to read about some of my zany adventures, both in Canada and in other places.

Jul 10, 1996 06:00 PM Venice Beach

We went to Venice Beach today. We sat on the beach for an hour or so and then I rented a bike and rode up and down the beach. I saw a bunch of Schwarznegger wannabes lifting weights, tons of hot girls rollerblading around. We went to Rodeo Drive after that and gawked at all the expensive stores.

We grabbed a quick dinner and then went to Chavez Ravine to see the Dodgers play the St. Louis Cardinals. I'm not much of a fan of baseball, but I'd never been in a 'big-league' ballpark and so wanted to go. We had really good seats on the first base line for $8! Too bad nobody hit any homers...

Jun 16, 1996 06:00 PM Time to head back

We packed up and headed north, mostly because AL spent the last of his money gambling and Robby didn't want to spend anymore of his savings.

We drove without stopping until we got to Idaho Falls, where we had dinner. Then we got back in the car and kept going.

Jun 15, 1996 06:00 PM A day off by myself

We'd all been getting on each other's nerves altely, so we all decided to split up and enjoy the day to ourselves. I did a little gambling in the casino ($15) adn then headed off to find the BattleTech centre.

I found it and played several games, getting better each time. It was fun but a bit overpriced. When I got back to the hotel, Robby and Al were back and someone suggested we try the Steak & Lobster dinner special. For $5, it wasn't bad, but it wasnt great either.

Jun 14, 1996 06:00 PM Off to Las Vegas

We headed off to Las Vegas today. The drive was long and hot. The worst part is you can't use the A/C without overheating your engine! We blew a tire just outside of Barstow, so we pulled off to the side and changed it. We got to Vegas in time for a dinner special at our hotel (Sahara). Afterwards, we walked down the Strip and watched light shows, a fake volcano and a battle between the RN and pirates in front of Treasure Island.

Jun 13, 1996 06:00 PM A quiet day

Today we just relaxed and stayed inside. We made dinner for our hosts and watched a movie (Cable Guy) in the evening.

Jun 12, 1996 06:00 PM Day trip to San Diego

Today we went down to San Diego. We went into Balboa Park and saw the International Aerospace Museum and saw some cool stuff. Then we went into the core and did some shopping at Horton Plaza. It was a really cool mall, with four levels and crosswalks going back and forth, but no roof. I guess with the climate, it works. There were tons of interesting stores like Nordstrom's, FAO Schwarz and a Planet Hollywood. After dinner, we crossed into Coronado and watched the sunset on Silver Strand Beach.

Silly me, I forgot my driver's license, so we couldn't cross the border into Tijuana...

Jun 11, 1996 06:00 PM Magic Mountain

Well, after not having much fun at Disneyland, I wasn't too keen on going to another amusement park. Still, I said why not and we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. The park was mostly rollercoasters and I didn't care for them much, but I still had a lot of fun. The best part was I didn't have to wait for an hour for a short ride. Most times there was no wait or just a few minutes. When it got too hot, we went on some of the water rides. The coolest one was the Rapids ride, in which eight people got on a big round raft and went down a series of rapids. We got really wet, but in the heat, it felt great!

Jun 09, 1996 06:00 PM Disneyland

We went to Disneyland today. I have to admit, I didn't enjoy it very much. Standing in line for an hour for a 2 minute ride was a huge waste of time IMO. Some of the rides were fun, like the Indiana Jones ride and Splash Mountain (very nice on a hot day). The best part of the day came in the evening when the parade of Lights (or whatever it's called) started, because almost everyone went to watch it. That meant that most rides had no lines, so we went on a bunch in a much shorter space of time.

Jun 08, 1996 06:00 PM Exploring LA

We drove around town, checking out Mann's Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Blvd and the Star Walk. We also did some shopping in one of the subrbs. I was surprised to see mall security guards with guns! In the evening, we saw a movie (The Rock).

Jun 07, 1996 06:00 PM Heading for LA

We got up and left the Bay Area. Instead of taking the interstate, we took the incredibly scenic Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). The drive was spectacular. We swung through Monterey, Big Sur and Carmel by the Sea on our five hour drive down the coast. We didn't get to LA until almost 8pm, and then we had to wait until my friend's cousins got home.
