Jun 06, 1996 06:00 PM San Fran - Day 2

We got ourselves a hotel in Santa Clara, a wealthy suburb of San Francisco and continued to explore the Bay Area. In Santa Clara it was very warm, but when we got back to San Fran, the weather was surprisingly cool for June.

Jun 05, 1996 06:00 PM Northern Cali

We packed up early and headed back into Redding to check out some factory outlets. We did some shopping and I found some great deals on some Hilfiger stuff. By about 11am, we were back on the road and headed to San Fran. We go there about 3 pm and proceded to explore it. We drove down Lombard Street, checked out Fisherman's Wharf and crossed the Golden Gate bridge too. We got ourselves a hotel in Daly City, which resembled a stereotypical urban ghetto, with gang members cruising around in low riders and dozens of homeless begging for change. It was quite depressing...

Jun 04, 1996 06:00 PM Exploring Oregon and California

We drove around and to all of us, Portland seemed very much like Vancouver. Clean, safe, friendly and very easy on the eyes. After a couple of hours, we heanear ded south again and drove right on through Oregon and crossed into northern California. I was really surprised by how much northern California looked like Alberta. Huge sonw-capped mountains, tall trees, clear rivers and beautiful lakes. We stopped at Whiskytown Lake campsite near Redding, CA. We went into town and bought some food for dinner, then returned and set up camp and ate.

Jun 03, 1996 06:00 PM Crossing the border

We left Vancouver this morning and headed south. We crossed about 11am and had lunch in Bellingham about 1pm. We shopped at a Barnes & Noble. Then we headed for Seattle and looked around there. We didn't care for it all that much, so we headed for Portland. We got there around 7pm and found a room for the night an hour later, after getting turned around on the interstate.

Jun 02, 1996 06:00 PM Vancouver - Day 2

Today was pretty light. We saw a movie, did some shopping at MEC and then went to the Casino. I played Caribbean Stud poker, which was pretty expensive ($16 per hand). On my second hand, I drew a full house and won almost $250. I played a couple hands more, but none of of us won again, so we called it quits. After that, we went for dinner.

Jun 01, 1996 06:00 PM Vancouver - Day 1

We got up and explored Vancouver. We went to North Vancouver and saw the Capilano suspenion bridge. Alfred was terrifed, but I thought it was great. Then we went to Granville Island and Wreck Beach. I didn't care that clothing optional, I just wanted to see the ocean for the first time. All in all, it wasn't very satisfying. Too many old hippies wandering around naked and the weather was cool and cloudy, so I couldn't even enjoy the ocean!

May 31, 1996 06:00 PM Heading off on the trip of a lifetime!

I left Edmonton early in the morning on the first leg of a huge driving trip across Canada and the U.S. We drove through the night and stopped at Wapta Pass in Banff National Park for breakfast. We motored on and got to Kamloops by 1pm, where we had lunch. We got to Maple Ridge about 4:30pm and met Rob's sister and her boyfriend. Then we drove to Stanley Park and looked around, finishing off with dinner at Boston Pizza.
