Hi Amanda,
yeah! Absolutely the right decision! Congrats on winning the AoM award for your wonderful pics from Iceland. Just when you were uploading them I had a student from Iceland for the first time. Listening to her and seeing your photos have made me really interested in this country. Thanks for sharing! :)
All the best - Petra

Myanmar

Hi Amanda,
I hope you are well.
I have heard that it was not too difficult to get into Myanmar, and that people (and the government!) welcome visitors (and their dollars!). It is very easy to travel to Yangoon from Thailand or from Laos. I almost did it when I was in the area, but I ran out of time. My friends went, and told me incredible stories. They were not too impressed with facilities, but they raved about the monuments and beaches, and the people!
They told me, though, that one should stay at local, non-state-owned hotels and eat at local restaurants. The quality was better and the money was going to directly to the people.
Kindest regards
Krys

Comment on my Mandalay report

Hi Amanda, good to hear from you. How are things going in your part of the world? Thank you for your comment. No I didn't have any trouble to get into the country, but I do have a very good and reliable travel agent who works with travel agencies in certain, mainly Asian countries as Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, India etc. I feel very safe with him.
So long.
