Thanks for your comment on my Madrid report. There's clearly enough there to fill up a much longer visit - but in that sense I am not a city person.
Even with that short time I needed my day out.

Brussels report

Amanda
Thanks for yur comment on my report. I notice you had a short visit to Brussels too.
I decided to only take a quick look at the usual tourist spots and concentrate on looking at the Art Nouveau architechture. It provided a theme for my visit and got me off the beaten track a little.
I'm quite interested in art, so when I travel I try to take in a little "culture"

Hello Amanda

Hello Amanda,
Thank you very much, I like the photo, too. It wasn't taken in any exotic location, but on a train in Victoria Station. So I guess it's somewhat travel related.
I went to Budapest 30 years ago on a school trip. I picked Budapest over Rome, thinking it would be easier to go to Rome on my own one day as Budapest was still behind the iron curtain. How times have changed! In fact, by the time we went, Hungary had opened their border to Austria. Only the year before the class above us were able to sell their Levi's for a lot of money on the black market.
What I remember the most, apart from the wonderful architecture and beautiful setting of the city, is how cheap it was. I think this was the only time I went away and brought most of my pocket money back home with me despite going out every night and taking taxis everywhere.
And the food. Very tasty, but also very fattening. Goose fat and cakes!
All the best
Sabine
