Hey Krzys,
Madness says in the 15 years he has lived there no fatalities. Sounds about right to me.

Ferry crossing
Posted: 2009-05-17 01:57 PM
Hey Krzys,
I'm not really sure how safe the ferries are; I only took it once and didn't have any incidences. But it was an impulse decision so I hadn't done any research. It felt fine and I lived to tell the tale.
Burak (Madness) is probably better to comment.
All the best

Alliance!
Posted: 2009-05-14 04:54 PM
Thanks for that detailed info, my dear, clever wife has pointed out that the holiday company that we flew with was based in the Balkans with a UK office and had chartered an Alliance aircraft for the return journey from Burgas because of some problem with the plane we were supposed to be on, she thinks it may have been Croatia Air or something similar, I blame the 10% abv Bulgarian beer for my confusion:-) I must take more water with it in future!, Cheers Krys, Tony. ps, this was in c1991-2.

Flights!
Posted: 2009-05-14 12:57 PM
Hi again Krys, I think sympathy is probably better! I understood that Star Alliance was originally a conglomeration of various state airlines operating mostly out of the balkan countries just after the breakup of the soviet union, I used them a few times out of necessity not choice and was held once at Gatwick for a very long time after flying in from Bulgaria, it appears that several automatic weapons were in the hold!!. All in the past now I hope, once again good luck to you. Tony.

Re: China airpass, I have tried to book cheap advertised flights several times and been mucked about so much that I have given up, I live by the rule now that if it looks too good to be true it almost always is, still don't give up hope, you may be the exception to the rule, good luck to you, Regards, Tony.

Chat invitation

Yes, I did invite you - to chew the cud about Ghent - but it's always a chancy business and people like me who forget to sign out don't help as I have sometimes moved on long before an invitation is posted..

Hi Krys
Thanks for your comment on my Edinburgh report. It was certainly high time I did one.
Your pictures of Ghent bring back some great memories - what a striking place!
Cheers

Thank Kris for the congratulations. I am really happy that somebody like those pictures. It was a lovely piece of Danemark.. Have you been in Mons Island? If I remember correctly you posted a report from Odense, whoch is not very very far from the Mons Island.
ps. Great shots from Brugge
Take care

Thank you for your congratulations... Well... I also like this picture, but I was surprised by the award... I rather expected that the jury will appreciate my 100-days travel log from 8th round-the-world voyage... You never know... Thanks again...

I loved your Bruges album, it was such a shame about the weather, this such a great place to stroll around on a nice day and so many chocolate shops, well done!!. Tony.
