Cave City, Kentucky is famous for being located near to the huge cave system known as Mammoth Cave National Park. I really do not believe that the city would be distinctive in its own right without the cave. The city revolves around tourism to the cave and tourism-related industries. The cave has more than 120 miles of passageways, and many other miles exist that have never ben explored. This cave has been important to ancient Native Americans (who explored inside), Civil War industries (who mined the bat guano to make gun powder), tuberculosis patients, and now tourists.

Mammoth Cave National Park is located about 12 miles outside of Cave City. In this park, a visitor can take walking tours of the cave, hike along more than 100 miles of trails, or ride a tour boat along the scenic Green River.

Again, the most important part of the city is the Mammoth cave National Park. Hiking along the trails is special, as is touring through the cave.
