Helsinki is the perfect example of a city mixed with nature. The finn way of life is based on that respect to mother nature that provides forests, lakes, and fantastic natural resources. Helsinki is a little surprise in the middle of the winter. I feel proud to say that i lived there for a while and i enjoyed almost every second of my time as a helsinker.

Favourite spots: |
Kauppatori market square and the explanade, the best place to beguin exploring the city. The senaatintori square with St. Nichola's Cathedral (i love that square), the Kiasma, the museum of contemporary art, Töölönlahti and the central park, used for walking and jogging...

What's really great: |
My small apartment in the center. That was really great. But also Suomenlina, a city within a city. It's recognised as one of he world's unique cultural treasures. It's placed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. A coffee outside a pub in the explanade...

Sights: |
also interesting is the visit to Poorvo, the second oldest city in Finland with its medieval church and old houses. Of course, very important, the Sauna!!!! it's more than a tradition. And try to find Sibelius, Saarinen, Aalto, Sallinen traces....

Accommodations: |
The main problem here is the price.Everything is so expensive in helsinki. Of course, the cheapest option is a camping. A beautiful place is the Sokos Hotel Torni, the Helsinki's oldest landmark and the only "skycraper" in the city. Great views at the top floor (also just for a beer)

Restaurants: |
My favourite one, no doubt, was this in Annankatu 22, a Lappish restaurant in the very center...try with poronkäristys, the best known original lappish dish
