once, to be the ruler of this place means to be the ruler of universe. this is the window for all continents. such narrow water that leads you to all that is great - the world.

go stroll the street for 10 minutes, and you can hear ten different songs all in different languages. rickshaws with their surround audio setup, all you want is in the air. brought by the wind, filling up your ears and then your soul. puja, bollywood top ten, siti nurhalizah and some of the shanghai tunes all mixed with the sound of the ocean just downhill. people talks, cars bursting out horn, the birds chirping, the smoke whistling out of restaurant's chimney, then almost silent -- you are in the alley of the historic town.

Favourite spots: |
- can kooh cheng street, with its narrow and cramped street. a building with red wall and little shops with cheap stuff. the whole smell of life planted in the wall of each houses. - traditional coffee shop at tun tan ceng lock street, and how this street looked like from the old church. - up hill when you can see the ocean

What's really great: |
just listen to the city. listen to that person singing 'i can only say i love you with a song'. listen carefully, you can even hear the year 1511 when the portuguese fell in love with the land, and shed blood just to prove how much they want it.

Hi Del,
Such a nice write up and in a nutshell report! Very clear, and I like all your photos- but there are more hotels along Jonker Street and the night market can be quite lively! Did you go to the night market? Malacca used to be one of my favouraite town, for its history and culture, but after some vast modernisation hit in, I am just sad, to see just rubble replacing the important river that once was the world's most important port. (sigh) Politician and money makers will always find reasons to rubble..that's how I feel.
