Large, busy city with a long beach and lots of beautiful islands off the coastline. Plenty of snorkelling to look at coral, lots of lazing in the sun, markets and excellent French/Vietnmaese bakeries.

What's really great: |
Did an island cruise on an old boat and snorkelled, ate, swam, and went for a ride in a round boat - very interesting place.

Sights: |
The islands are amazing. I had never seen coral before, and although it is not as impressive as the Red Sea or the Barrier Reef in Australia, it was beautiful and there was plenty to see. Some of the coral has been damaged because of pollution, but there were lots of little fish swimming around.

Loved the markets - spent a lot of time browsing there because it is so fascinating. The people were selling absolutely everything imagineable - see photo.

Great report. Actually, I was in Vietnam last December/January, but I only went as far as Mui Ne (Just uploaded a report). I'm planning to go for 2 weeks this winter, but starting in Hanoi and going all the way down to Saigon. I was wondering whether or not to visit Nha Trang, and I think I will after reading your report. I didn't know that they had the coral there -- love the ocean. The ocean at Mui Ne is kind of boring, but the location is great. Anyway, very helpful report! |
