Quebec city is arguably the most romantic city in Canada, and one of the oldest European cities in North America. Compared to other Canadian cities especially in the south west it is like the grand father to the other cities. The people are frienly, but you should at least try to speak french. Do yourself (and the others) a favour and buy a quick learner kit or something similar for french. You will be treated much better, believe me! Its a good place to stay for a few days.
