Vail is great for families

  12 votes
Why Vail? Because it is the most beautiful and laid back ski resort in all of Colorado! Our family goes twice a year and that was the first place I actually ever saw snow. The culture is great, not at all snob-like and not as much fur as in Aspen.

Great morning view on the ski lift.
Great morning view on the ski lift.
Great for family ski trips. Vail mountain has three huge sides to ski and play on, and plenty of runs for beginners. The ski instructors are very helpful and friendly, as well as the staff in the village shops. There are plenty of great sites aside from the slopes, such as little parks and trails and nature areas.

Bart and Yetti's, Vail village for shopping and cafe's

What's really great:

The staff at the Vail resort and the ski school are first rate. They treated our family like royalty from our very first visit. The kids enjoyed ski school and so did the grownups! At every turn, there is great food, and yes even great vegan and vegetarian food! Vail is pricey, but can be done with proper saving and wise spending!

Accommodations:

Rental houses and condos are available in every price range, but more than the average hotel.

This is a view going up one of the ski lifts in the morning. Breathtaking!

Hangouts:
Bart and Yetti's is a great warm place to hang with the kids and friends.

Restaurants:
Fiesta's in Edwards, just a short drive away, famous Mexican food, as well as the Coyote Cafe at Beaver Creek , just next door- fabulous atmosphere and killer veggie fajitas!
