Hi,
Can't tell you how relieved I was to see your posting on GLOBO...you are safe!! I was so worried about you after hearing of the tsunami swamping of the Maldives!
Happy New Year

Relief
Posted: 2004-12-29 06:21 AM
Hi Willow,
what a great relief to read that you are fine. When I heard the news of the waves reaching the Maledives I suddenly thought of you and hoped that you are not effected.
Best regards and have a nice time on Borneo, Joe

Hola Willow,
I was knocked off my chair when I saw all this beautiful pictures from several South-American countries. But where are the pictures of the white sunny palmtreecovered beaches from the Maldives? You live in my dream. I hope to visit the Maldives sometime, maybe combinated with Sri Lanka. Se puede escribirme en Español. Despues 5 años de clase de noche en Español soy capable de comprender, escribir y leer la lengua Española.
Gracias,
Jack

Hi Willow, this is inkolor.
Thanks for your comments about my report, it's nice that you appreciated the feeling more than the info.
Actually I like this place as much as the people and I'm involved voluntary in tourism planning with them... I'm sure they'll manage to preserve and made use of their resources in the future.
If you ever plan to come here please contact me, it'll be nice to guide you around.
Best regards,
Ingrid

Saigon
Posted: 2004-06-23 08:51 AM
I live in Saigon(now called Ho Chi Minh City)... a lot of people here still call it Saigon and always will... I prefer the name.... the other was imposed.... this is a city that to me doesn't feel like a city... no massive cluster of skyscrapers downtown.... it does have a lot of people here, I think the population is around 7 million... I love the choatic traffic(mainly 100cc motorbikes)and the pollution is not so good.... it's the rainy season now, so it's humid and we get rainfall every afternoon for an hour or so.... sometimes it's wild, with thunder cracking right overhead.... and the people are easy to smile and are a very handsome race.... the women here I think are, per capita, the most beautiful of the asian countries I've travelled to, and the ambience here is very comfortable... And Vietnam is as cheap as Mexico was about 30 years ago.
I've really noticed an increase in tourism here over the past couple of years, especially with the backpackers...
