I can't really say what the language situation would be like in Malaysia; I'm from Singapore. But I guess I understand what you are trying to say when people don't speak either of the official language well. A crisis of choosing a main language, is that what you mean?
But here in Singapore, well, people do have a strength in at least one of the languages, be it in English or their ethnic language (there are numerous). But bi-lingualism seriously has its benefits for the economy.
I was really amazed to actually see people from other european countries coming to Paris, and being able to speak French.. I guess all that european integration is creating a beneficial language/cultural exchange!!
Have you been to Southeast Asia before? Tell me more if you had travelled here.. (Could you reply in French?)

(Pardon me if there is any spelling mistakes!)
Is the French spoken in French Polynesia exactly the same spoken in France? Or do you have a dialect?

Just checked out your recent slideshow. Certainly different to the usual content but interesting! A very nautical feel.

Hi Bertrand,
Congratulations on the wonderful joy shown in this moment of the dance.
It is a magnificent photograph catching the faces of the dancers in fine detail together with the overall sense of the show.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful picture.

Dear Bert
Just went through all of your San Francisco and South Bay images. The details of Stanford are wonderful, but i especially like images of flying pelicans-looks like they are not pelicans, but flying Pterodactyls, and also Russian Orthodox church on El Camino street in Burlingame is absolutely very interesting historical and Religious site-very out of touristic route.
By the way-my Best Congratulations to you for POM nomination-exelent image!
