Hey Isabelle,

Long time.

Great pictures of New York, I especailly like your slideshow - Statue of Liberty and the Wall Street area; you had some perfect weather for taking pictures.

I didn't know you went to Chicago as well. Nice one!

The Flat Iron building is my favourite in this slide show. It gives a good impression of height.

very nice slide show. I especially like photo no 3 with the cables and the flag. That would really be excellent when enlarged.

Thanks so much for your note of congratulations! I loved touring the Mayan ruins - I still have a bunch to upload when I get some time :-)

Hi Isabelle

Hope you had good celebrations yesterday.

Note, you can delete the first posting you made in the Asian forum by simply clicking on "delete/edit" when logged on.

I am following the "Tour-de-France" daily on TV, a great international event. Next year I must remember to fly the French flag in my profile picture!

Hi Isabelle,

Thanks for your well wishes. I was completely surprised with ROM, but all the same it is nice.

I'm still enjoying your NY series of pictures and they seem to be getting better and better.

All the best

Belize

Isabelle,
Surprisingly, Belize is probably the easiest of the Mayan countries I have traveled to. It is the former British Honduras and, although you hear Spanish spoken in the mountains, English is still the national language. Almost no English is spoken in Guatemala or Honduras and little in southern Mexico. In Palenque, which is a big tourist draw, we were surprised that the large hotel we stayed in, which catered to tourist groups, no English was spoken by the front desk staff and guests were having a difficult time exchanging money. English IS widely spoken on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula but travel there is more expensive then the other three.

Guatemala is amazingly beautiful - full of volcanoes and lakes. It is also a real travel bargain. The same is true of Honduras, although it has fewer ruins. Both have amazing wildlife and lush rain forest.

you win no matte what you choose in Central America - it is all good!
