Buenos Aires travelogue picture
I went on trip to Argentina between 1/2003-4/2003, arriving and departing in Buenos Aires. Getting around the city was easy with the subte (subway). Buenos Aires has many nice parks, inexpensive hotels, and good variety of restuarants. It is a great city to walk in whether shopping or watching street performers on Florida street, or bird watching in the Reserva Ecologica.

Favourite spots:
The nearby town of Tigre has boat trips into swamp and the Parque de la Costa amusement park. There are also free weekend concerts in Parque Lecsama during the Argentine summer.

What's really great:

Walks in the Reserva Ecologica with thousands of birds and maybe a few field mice and iguanas as well. It is walking distance from downtown along coast and on weekends it can very crowded with Portenos sunbathing, biking, and jogging.

Sights:
Museo Bellas Artes is a fair museum and is free.

Accommodations:
Hotel Gran America. The outside rooms were very noisy from outside traffic and it is not located in main tourist district, but is across the street from the subway or a 20 minute walk away from main tourist area. My room included bath and cable tv for U$S6.60 a night.

Nightlife:
Did not go to clubs. You can go to food court in mall(forget name on main walking street) and see tango performances or live music at night for free.

Restaurants:
Sorry do not remember names. I ate mostly at local fast food places along walking streets where I could get hamburger, pancho, or pizza and beer for under a U$S1. I treated myself occassionally to a tenedor libre (buffet), they vary in quality, but I found great one with fish, shrimp, beef, and ice cream amongst the choices for U$S3.50.
