Murfreesboro's claim to fame is the Crater of Diamonds state park. A real diamond mine with top rate diamonds, anyone can go in and mine for $5.00 and you keep what you find. A 1+ carat perfect 0 / 0 / 0 diamond was found here.

Crater of Diamonds is fun if for no other reason than to give adults the an excuse to play in the dirt :-)
What's really great:
Lake Greeson is beautiful. It has wonderful recreation areas accessible from the shore - no boat needed.
Sights:
Other than Lake Greeson and Crater of Diamonds - not much.
Accommodations:
Riverside Cabins - I strongly DO NOT recommend these accomodations! I STRONGLY suggest you do not stay here.
Restaurants:
The Fish Nest in nearby Nashville was very good - T&C restaurant was fair.
