Lakeside in Pokhara is a tourist village set on a lovely lake surrounded by mountains. There are many restuarants, travel agents and internet cafes.

There are many activites to do here. The most popular is arranging trekking expeditions into the nearby Annapurna mountains. There is also swimming in lake, golfing, day hikes, boating, microlight flights, whitewater rafting trips, etc.

Pokhara after a hail storm
My favorite spot was the roof of my hotel where I could sit and observe the mountains and the lake. The mountain view constantly changed. Most days the Annapurnas were not even visible, and when they did they often had a veil of clouds that which worked together with the sunlight to change the color and appearance of the mountains.
What's really great:
Sangarkot
The day hike up Sarangkot was very nice. There was a small colorful festival going on at the time in the village near the top of the mountain. There are great views of the town of Pokhara, Lake Fewa, as well as the Annapurnas.
Accommodations:
Machapuchre mountain
Accomodations are generally inexpensive, clean, and a good value. I spent $5 US (300 NR) a night for a third floor room with bath and cable television and a nice view of Lake Fewa. There are literally hundreds of hotels in the Lakeside area of Pokhara from the most basic to the very ritzy.

Overlooking Pokhara
There is one major street in Lakeside. I would just walk along it and read the menus until I found something that made my mouth water. As well as Nepali and Tibetan food, there is Israeli, Indian, and Western cuisine available. I liked the breakfast deals the best which were usually two eggs, bread with jelly, hash browns, tomatos and cucumber, and coffee or tea for 75 cents US(40 NR).
