This isnt meant to be as glamourous as footballers wives - just to warn you. Its just some memories of Sydney and some of the sights I thought were shit hot.
Centrepoint through the streets of Sydney
Over the years, I have been to Sydney four times. Now I am going again, and I thought it was the right time to start sharing some parts of my trip. I was meaning to hold this report until I got home - but I published it accidentally (and cant work out how to unpublish) so I apologise if I have wasted your time!
Favourite spots:
One side of Darling Harbour
Darling Harbour is a real diamond in Sydneys crown. The harbour is colourful and bright - its also very very clean! From the Maritime Museum to the Aquarium and all the cafes along the waterfront, I definitely have lots more exploring to do tomorrow. Today I went into the Harbourside shopping area and had a great look around before jumping on the monorail (which runs every 3-5 minutes) and taking a trip into the centre of Sydney.
What's really great:
Looking at the city from up in the Centrepoint Tower. The weather in Sydney is pretty much fantastic most of the time. Its been clear and warm the whole time I have been here. Bring your walking shoes as there is a lot to see and do around the city area. Tomorrow I am off to the Chinese Gardens (which you can sort of see from the monorail) and hopefully the aquarium too.
Sights:
Water feature at the Harbour
Not much to share yet
Accommodations:
This time around (March 2006) I am staying at Four Points by Sheraton. It is right on Darling Harbour and is absoutely gorgeous! From the time I checked in - and found where I wanted to go - the staff here have been lovely! Perfect location for sightseeing and shopping :)
Nightlife:
Not much happening on a Monday night - things seem to close up about midnight! Perhaps tonight (Tuesday) will be better!
Restaurants:
Nicks Restaurant on Cockle Bay Wharf - the meal was fantastic! I had the most gorgeous giant calamari - chargrilled. Not a rubbery piece to be found in the whole entree! It was main size but I still managed to find room to move onto the grainfed chargrilled sirloin. And the token green salad on the side. No room for dessert - although the creme brulee was calling me. Finished my rose and moved on down the waterfront to a place called Pontoon for vodka and redbulls until they shut the bar on us.
Other recommendations:
I would totally recommend taking the monorail as soon as you can. They tell you about most of the major sites around the city centre and it is very frequent and very fast. If you get off at the city centre stop, walk up George Street to the Sydney Opera House.
Thanks for the memories. I stayed at the Sheraton when we were here. Our last night was New Years eve and we stayed in our room to watch the fireworks.
Not really a report, yet! Delete and start again? The "s" word can be avoided if you wish. Travel worth is 0 but a star for trying :-) We are exited to hear what is at Surry Hills and Oxford street, the names are not enough. How about using the "travel log", that is best for this type of info.
Usually I am magnanimous rating reports, but this one is too short to rate high. Please, try again with pictures and full content. Meanwhile, thanks for your intention to help us.
