God’s gift-Vichy Springs

  20 votes
After working almost for a year without even taking a short vacation ,we had decided not to go to far away destinations ,but visiting a specific place ,where we would be able to relax and rejuvinate our tired souls and even more tired bodies.

Vichy Springs Resort
Vichy Springs Resort
My friend had told me ,that he had visited a few years ago a very interesting resort-retreat By the name: Vichy Springs .So ,we had decided to check this resort our self .I had contacted the resort myself and made reservation for a creek side room .The reservation agent from the resort was very pleasant ,she confirmed creek side room for us and latter on, the reservation was also supported by the email ,that she sent to me almost immediately. The resort is located in the small city of Ukiah ,which is located along the Calofornia 101 North Highway, and only 2 hours drive from San Francisco .To tell frankly ,we had not find anything special to our interest in the city ,but the resort along had impressed our all expectations. Vichy Springs Resort and Spa is Historic Country Inn has established in 1854.The resosrt has been named after very famous spring’s ,that has been first discovered by Julius Caesar in France. This is only resort in US,that offers natural mineral and warm springs .The water from the spring has magical healing qualities and filled with minerals and energy ,that could restore our tired mind and body. The springs surge forth from very deep ( miles in deep) parts of our Earth. The water is amazingly clean and lightly sparkling with light sulfur taste ( like rotten eggs ) . I was drinking this water right from the source ( the spring itself) without any problems. Vichy Springs Resort is the oldest continuously operated resort-spa in California!.

Favourite spots:
The flow of the magic
The flow of the magic
Vichy Springs was Jack London’s favorite summer get away spot and even world famous writer Mark Twain was drinking and taking a bath at this fantastic curative springs ! “Great place !!,Good for Presidents and everyone else” said former California Governor Jerry Brown after relaxing and rejuvenating at this resort for a few days. Many prominent people has stayed and enjoyed this divine place on Earth-to name a few: Robert Louise Stevenson ,US Presidents Ulysses Grant ,Theodore Roosevelt and Benjamin Harrison.

What's really great:
Vibrant spring colors
Vibrant spring colors
Vichy Springs has only warm and carbonated mineral bath in North America including Canada – the “ Champagne Bath”.American Indians has been using the miraculous curative qualities of this waters for a thousand of years before even the resort has been established in 1854.The resort now considered as California Historical Landmark. The resort is located on 700 acres of forested land with even its own natural waterfalls- “Chemisal Falls” unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to see ,because it rained from the first minute ,we had arrived there .But I would visit this falls ,the next time. The Falls are located about 25-30 min walking distance through the forest. The territory of the resort is very beautifully landscaped with a bland of wild and cultivated flowers ,plants, native and exotic California trees and bushes .Some trees bloom with colorful flowers in the spring .I can’t describe the beauty of all immaculately manicured meadows and streams .

Sights:
The replica of Monet's bridge
The replica of Monet's bridge
Bring you camera and a lot of love and appreciation for the nature .The resort has also a replica of Monet’s bridge that crosses over the natural thermal springs.
Through out the resort I was able to see many different species of lush ferns with all different kindes of spring flowers.

Accommodations:
The curative source
The curative source
Each rooms and cottages are individually decorated. The resort has mountain view rooms, creek side rooms – where we ha stayed and also one and two bedroom cottages with fully equipped kitchens and the living rooms. Some rooms and the cottages are dated back to 18 hundreds, but of coarse renovated .The resort has Olympic-size swimming pool filled with mineral water. The poll is pretty cold though in the spring, because it is naturally heated only with the sun rays. Patrons of the resort could order Swedish massage with foot reflexology and herbal facial.

Nightlife:
"Champagne " Mineral Baths
We had visited no clubs at this time. This resort we had visited to stay away from crowds and all kind of stressful activities.

Hangouts:
The Vichy resident

There is no clubs we had visited. This resort is a total retreat without even T.V. in the
Guest rooms.

Restaurants:
Yellow-for the sun and the spring time

The resort offers deluxe continental breakfast with delicious hand prepared mouth watering pastries, and for dining we had drove about 15 min to the nearest restaurant. The city of Ukiah offers some Italian,Mexican,American and of coarse Chinese restaurants.

I also can recommend visiting the Mendocino cost, which is about one and a half hour away from the Vichy Springs. The city of Mendocino offers spectacular ocean views, very interesting antic shops and galleries. The world class wineries and several lakes such as Mendocino lake and Clear lake are located not so far away.

I have never heard of this destination. I wouldn't be able to go into the mineral baths, (I'm allergic to sulfer). I love you flower picture.

Excellent report on a "no-stress" place, sounds like a fantastic breakaway hideout. You are right, one does not have to travel great distances to find very special places.
