Viernheim is a rather normal city in Germany. It has a mall, a bird-park, and almost anything else you need (like a bowling-alley, or restaraunts). Because it is near Heppenheim and Lorsch, it is a good stay!
'Rhein-neckar Zentrum' - The mall in Viernheim - Is so large it can meet your every need. Ever since currency changed over to Euro, things have become very expensive. So unless you want to keep your wallet, come to Rhein-neckar Zentrum!
Favourite spots:
My favorite spot is the bird-park. It's one of the places to come to see tropical birds close up - still free! You're also allowed to feed the parrots (and rather large birds) peanuts; but just as long as they're good (of course...)
What's really great:
I just loved the bird-park and I think it is worth visiting... I'd go any day if I could spare one!
Restaurants:
The 'Kegelzentrum' Is also a good restaraunt. 'Kegeln' is like bowling, but with 9 thinner, heavier pins. It's Impossible to complain every meal at the Kegelzentrum, because there's always one where you can't complain!
Other recommendations:
As (already twice) explained, the bird-park is the best spot I think. They have Flamingos, parrots, etc. and you can visit them; (still) free!
I remember all of us going swimming in Viernheim. Do they still have the large pool there? Next time I am in Germany, I will have to visit the birdpark. Until I read your report, I didn't know that it existed.
