Oct 20, 2004 06:00 PM 8.44 hours

We're off again. Some people waked me this morning, walking by our van and saying things about it. I couldn't quite get what they said, but I didn't trust it, so we left as soon as possible. When we left, we saw that those people where actually some workers from a place next to our van. They probably had hoped to be able to use our spot...
We drove back to Belgium to start redoing a piece of road, which appeared too dark on the quality check. Problem was that the road was some sort of lane. In other words, there where trees on both side of the road, making it too dark at the end of the day.
We tried, but it appeared still to be too dark in the morning too. So we waited and watched the sun come up.
I'm normally not a 'get-up-early-in-the-morning-person', but because we go to sleep quite soon, it's easy to get up at about 7-8 AM.
And I have to admit...it's beautiful, to see the day start like that. Of course, it meant something more for me now...after what happend to my grandma.

Oct 20, 2004 06:00 PM 9.15 hours

The day started and the sunlight was bright enough to let us do our jobs.
We soon finished off another map and now come to the total of 8 maps.
We also called Tele Atlas and asked our boss what to do with the data which we needed to bring them. And what to do with the funural...
So our plans changed: we will go to Belgium on Monday, deliver the data and both go home till the evening of tuesday. But in order to do so, we first will have to 'save-up' some hours of work-time, just to be able to take those days off. Now, normally it shouldn't be any problem. We might even be able to do this already. But if the weather changes, we have problems. So we make it ourselves some more confortable and start to build up a buffer.

Oct 20, 2004 06:00 PM 13.00 hours

We stopped at some tanking station. There was also a McDonalds. Don't start thinking bad!! It was our very first one in a whole week. We've always been eating healthy food (thanks too the cooking arts of Wouter).
And after lunch, we went on, working.
It's for sure now, this job truly is addictive. You just can't stop driving. You want to finish off all the maps as soon as possible. And you always see new places.

Oct 20, 2004 06:00 PM 17.00 hours

We finished our day in Rotterdam. Because we needed to do some shopping we went to an Edah-supermarket in Rotterdam. Man...Rotterdam is truly what they say. The first thing I get to see when I step out of our van is a drug deal. Anyways, after a record time in shopping we went to a parking, not so far outside Rotterdam to spend the night.

Oct 19, 2004 06:00 PM 8.30 hours

We wake up, but it appears to be raining. Because we can't shoot anything while it really raines (as we have experienced a couple of days ago), we just go back to sleep.

Oct 19, 2004 06:00 PM 12.00 hours

I wake up again and decide to get up. It has almost stopped raining and we still need to go to the shower, shave, etc... We can truly use it :o).
While I was in the shower my parents tried to call me. A call which I was expecting one of these days. They told me what I thought they'd tell me: my grandmother died during the night. She was 8O years old and had pancreas-cancer. It was so badly, nothing could be done any more. So, in a few months time, my grandmother went from a normal healthy person, to some skeleton with flesh and the idea that she could die every instance.
I loved her, and I'll truly miss her. Even now, when I'm writing this note (at night), I still don't really 'feel' it. I don't feel her absence. But I know it will come to me...
The funural will be on tuesday, and therefore my father will come and get me from Holland and take me home for just one day. But I'll keep you all updated on what happens next.
After all this, we payed Cees and his wife and left for the roads.

Oct 19, 2004 06:00 PM 20.00 hours

The rest of the day we could still shoot for about 5 hours. Which is good, because this means we'll have our week finished probably tomorrow and therefore will have time off to do whatever we want to do.
We hadn't been eating whole day. Why...well, we where on the roads :o). So to spoil ourselves we went to an italian pizzeria in Zundert, not so far from the Belgian border. The pizza's where terrific. And so was the service ;o).
We eventually parked on a parking down some more quiet streets, made our backup, quality check and watched some TV.

Oct 18, 2004 06:00 PM 9.15 hours

Again, we got up and saw the weather was really good. So we jumped in our seats and left of.
This was a topper day, realy. We finished off 6 maps!! Now, for you people that won't mean much. But to give you an image, the whole southern of the Netherlands exists out of 21 maps. Because we already had finished 1 map before, we now alrady had done 1/3th of the whole southern in just 4 days, including one BWC.
We finished at about 8.15 PM. Which is late, very late actually. We drove to a very small nearby village called 'Stampersgat' (if you speak Dutch you'll understand). Soon we found a mini-camping to stay at. In comparison of what we thought it would be, it were very nice people and it was a very clean camping.

Oct 17, 2004 06:00 PM 8.45 hours

Because of yesterday, we start off by doing what we did then. Advantage now is that the weather is really clear, so everything is done in about 3 hours. Of course, here didn't our day stop. No, we kept on driving till 6 PM or so. A long day of course, but we finished off beautifully. We even passed the southern of Rotterdam.
At the end of the day we drove to a very small village in the neighbourhood, went to a shop, and settled on a parking spot, next to a cimentary. Which was peaceful and quiet :o).

Oct 16, 2004 06:00 PM 8.30 hours

We got up early in the morning, with the idea of trying to capture about 8 sessions (1 session takes 30 minutes). But first of all: breakfast. Or actually...no breakfast. We couldn't find any open shop to buy bread. So we left towards a small village (Zoutelande), where we eventually found what we were looking for. We stopped at a parking, baked some eggs and left after doing the dishes.
