Well done - ROTM

Kerrie,
Another great reports, congrats.
I was intrigued about your hotel; I remember seeing the discussion about this place in the forum, but I really didn't expect it to be that good - it seemed nice. And the view from these big windows must have been awesome?

Thank you

Hi Kerrie,
thank you for the nice entry in my guest book. The thing is, that I was kind of hoping to get a adventure and relaxing holiday in one pack. But right now I do feel not on holiday at all, since there are so many things one has to take care of. Different to Thailand, Australia or similar. In OZ everything is so layed back. Right now I am collecting parking tickets. I went twice to OZ and never ever got a ticket!! So if you do want to see the beach in California, you better bring the money with you.. plenty of it!
I was even thinking of taking a flight to Melbourne from SF, for 14 days. But hey.. I'll give it a chance in Cal. I got a car till Apr 10th I already payed for and maybe it is just me. Maybe a typical german thing *complaining all the time* :-) So... yeah I give it a chance and if it turnes out bad I can say... been there, done that! I hope the coast line to SD will give me a chance to relax for a few days on the beach.

Tikal

Kerrie,
Thanks for the feedback. I just wanted to make sure that we left enough time and it sounds like a day will work.
Tikal is what inspired this trip! It too is left with much jungle overgrowth. I have a picture of the stairs/ladders up to the top of one pyramid that shows gnarled roots digging into the structure. We climbed up at 4:30 in the morning to watch the sunrise from the top and literally saw the jungle awaken. I love that feel - it really takes you back in time!

Palenque??

Kerrie,
We are doing a sort of Mayan sites thing in June - thinking about Palenque, Bonampak, Yaxchilan, Quirigua, and Copan. You've been to Palenque - how much time should I plan. I've been told one day is enough. What do you think?

Amed bali

Kerrie,
Forgot to say that we will go to Amed. I read your report and think it will be a good place to stay. We have to Bali several times, but never in Amed.

Kerrie,
You were lucky to have been to Jungfraujoch in the 'good old days'. The day we were there it was not too crowded, but I can well imagine what it is like in the high season. Everywhere notices telling you how long you will have to wait in the queue from that point.
