I just want to say thankyou to you for making me welcome and all your nice comments on my reports. I enjoy writing about my travels and I will do more when I have the time. I agree, Homestay's do rock! and I wish I could experience more of them

Hi Eire,
Thank you for the congrats. Krakow is a true gem and you should make time to come and visit it. There is an awful lot of things that can be done in the vicinity as well. The magnificent Tatra mountains are perfect for hiking or climbing or winter sports, there are many incredible national parks around, some with caves housing endemic bats.
Kindest regards

So you think that London would be the best arrival point? I have to come in and leave at the same point and finding a good central location was a concern of mine. Is Amsterdam easily accessible from London?
The night train idea is a great one. That would save on room and board and let me see more of the countryside. I just looked at the price of a Europass and it seems a little pricey but if I factor in that I won't need to pay for a room it evens out quite a bit. Is there anything specific you recommend I see in these cities within the short time I am there?

Nicaragua
Posted: 2011-03-30 04:32 AM
Hi Eire,
I hope you have seen my response to your Group post regarding Nicaragua. It has been ten years almost since my last visit to Central America, so I am sure things have changed dramatically there.
I only went around Lago Nicaragua (San Jorge) with Volcan Conception, Managua (not so great, in fact), Granada, the active Volcan Masaya, Leon Viejo, Leon and a couple of border places with Honduras (Chenandega) and Costa Rica. I wish I could explore Lago Nicaragua a little more - the small towns and villages around it looked very inviting and people in the area were exceptionally friendly. Plus the volcano in the middle of the lake looked so majestic.
Kind regards

Your trip sounds like so much fun. I hope one day to go to Costa Rica. One of these good days.
Thanks
