Hi ya

Thanks for reading and rating my report on France. I like to experience different things when I vacation. It was my first cycling holiday and it was so much fun. Just not having to wait for buses or taxis, and pushing yourself to the brink, let alone being out the fresh air all day, I would highly recommend it, and the best thing is you don't have to be superfit.
Take care

HI!
What a coecindence, I did not know that, well it is say that you learn every day!
I had a fantastic time in Athens, but 3 days is not enough!!!
Just to say many thanks for your comments.
I have more photos of your "Ladies" I am still in two minds to upload them or not, they might not be as good as the other one, I am still thinking about it!
I love to come back to Greece and see the island such as Santorini...
Good to day to you

Eire,
Thanks for you comment on my Parassinikadavu report. It is a fascinating place. If ever you visit India, it is certainly worth to go there.

what to wear
Posted: 2006-03-24 05:13 AM
Eire,
I am quite old fashioned (I suppose) regarding clothing.
When travelling in non-western countries I wear a skirt, just over the knees, and a blouse with short sleeves. My husband wears long trousers and a shirt (with lots of pockets) and short sleeves. I feel comfortable in this, but it is not fashionable at all. We have never been denied entry to mosques etc.
I never swim in (non western) places where there are no other tourists. (My husband does but he is a man, which makes all the difference). On the beach I wear a long (very thin cotton) skirts and a sleeveless top
If I do swim, I 'cover up' afterwards. It also prevents sunburn, because sitting in the shade the shade cannot prevent this.
I feel comfortable with these 'personal rules' but it may be different for you.

Socks ...
Posted: 2006-03-23 10:16 AM
Hi Eire,
sandals are good, socks sometimes are good too when you go into a temple and you want to stay healthy. They are seemingly clean, but who knows. - I never was dissappointed by the Experiment, its an international organisation now, but it started in Germany in the beginning of the 1930s as people realised that there would be more wars. So thhey thought peole should meet and get to know each other to avoid war. A good Idea, but ... - Oh, I love knitting, specially in hard times. I was succesful this winter: 1 jacket, 2 pullovers, 2 in the making.
Take care.

Destnation Delhii

Hi Eire,
I just wrote an introduction to Delhi. Maybe it is of help.
Take care.
Christl
PS.: August is very hot and humid, the air pollution is incredible. Take a lot of loose cotton dresses with long sleeves, the sun is dangerous and don't forget socks, the marble floor around the Bahai temple i.e. is so hot that it burns your feet. But I think you know all this.
Take care Christl

Familystay in India
Posted: 2006-03-23 03:44 AM
Good morning Eire,Thank you for your comment on my report. Yes, I went again with theExperiment. I like to do that when I want to see a new country. You live the family life and learn about their way of life and how to behave in a new environment. These families are not always rich, some can't travel because of money, old age or illness. Some will ask you whether they could stay wirh you too. I stayed in Mumbai and in Delhi for 14 days each in very nice and observant families who had travelled in Europe and in the States and knew about the ways of our life. I was protected.
Sometimes friendships developes, sometimes even the next generation keeps contact with you. Its a good way to travel. It is not always cheap because you pay for the administration and sometimes the families get som money. If you have special questions just ask.
Take care. Christl
